This extension is not enabled by default but may be available upon request.

InstantCommons is an extension that allows a wiki to use media files directly from Wikimedia Commons without requiring local uploads. It can be used for widely used resources, such as country flags and maps.

Usage

InstantCommons files are embedded using their filenames in the same way as locally uploaded files.
[[File:Example.png]]

When a local file and an InstantCommons file share the same name, the local file takes precedence and is displayed instead of the version from Wikimedia Commons.
